Samuel Maina Karanja

Samuel Maina Karanja is the senior partner at KMK Advocates with over 2 decades experience both in private and public sector advising on a broad range of transactions ranging from project sponsors, public entities and corporate clients in energy, oil and gas, financial services, mining, infrastructure, IPO and ICT sector. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Arts Hons (BA) degree in Economics and Public Administration, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree, post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and Masters of Law Degree (LL.M) in international trade and investment law, specializing in competition law. He is also a Certified Public Secretary-Kenya (CPS-K) life member, Registered Trade Mark and Patent Agent as well as being a Notary Public and a Commissioner for Oaths.

Samuel has led and participated in multi-jurisdiction, in various corporate and Government transactions both in-house and as external counsel, advising on mergers and acquisitions and joint venture arrangements. He is currently the Lead Local Adviser to the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum on oil and gas contracts and lends his vast experience regularly reviewing security documents for various banking institutions.


Gladys Wamaitha Kinyanjui

Wamaitha is a partner of KMK Advocates. She has over 15 year’s experience as a civil litigation lawyer specializing in family law, succession, legislative drafting, employment, criminal law, civil rights, mediation and arbitration, working with many national and international firms.

Wamaitha holds a Bachelor Degree (BA) in Psychology, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree, post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Human Rights.

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Law Society of Kenya, a commissioner of the disciplinary tribunal and an accredited Mediator of the Judiciary. Wamaitha is an active member of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA-Kenya) a Pro-bono Legal Aid Scheme, the Cradle Foundation- Pro-bono Legal Aid Scheme and Kituo Cha Sheria.

She was appointed to serve in the Practice Standards and Ethics Committee of the Law Society of Kenya. She actively holds lectures and seminars for post graduates in areas of ethics on principles of the disciplinary tribunal, human rights, arbitration, mediation and public interest litigationat Kenya School of Law and Strathmore University.

Joram Wairuhi Wang’ombe

Joram is an associate specialising in the following areas of law: insurance, banking, contract, immigration, land, oil and gas. He has been instrumental in drafting of Court pleadings and attending Court and Tribunals. He is skilled in Court negotiations for settlement of suits, provision of legal opinions and other related litigation tasks. Joram has worked on multi-billion projects in Mombasa and is conversant with the elements of maritime law dealing with negotiating principles of ex-ship contracts

Mwangi Kimani


Key areas of expertise


Mwangi is a member of KMK’s commercial and Conveyancing department and specialises in Real Estate and Property Management matters including real estate development for commercial and residential properties, advising on real estate and property matters, preparing documentation for various property transactions including acquisitions and dispositions, creating and perfecting securities for various corporate and individual clients, reviewing and drafting a variety of commercial agreements and conducting legal due diligence. Before joining KMK, Mwangi was a pupil at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice where he worked in the Treaties and Agreements Division, drafting and reviewing international and domestic agreements on behalf of the Government of Kenya and reviewing contracts on behalf of Government Departments and Agencies, including major Public Private Partnership agreements. He also worked in the Civil Litigation Department preparing pleadings and submissions for matters before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Naima Kirui


Key areas of expertise


Naima is a member of KMK’s litigation department and specialises in commercial law, insurance and civil litigation. She has worked matters involving corporate debt recovery, commercial litigation, dispute resolution, probate and administration. Employment law, drafting of legal documents for environment and land cases.

The legal services that Naima has provided include general advice on commercial, employment and labour law and civil litigation. Naima has previous experience in employment law, tax, succession and criminal law.
She has handled several matters that cut across various legal disciplines including civil, commercial and criminal litigation to probate and administration. 

Margaret Muthii


Key areas of expertise


Margaret is a member of KMK’s litigation department and specialises in Family, Constitutional, Human Rights and Civil litigation matters through the preparation of Court pleadings, Court and Tribunal attendances, Client interview and meetings. She has handled matters concerning out of Court negotiations for settlement of suits, provision of legal opinions and other related litigation tasks.


Margaret is especially keen on prosecuting and defending Constitutional and Human Rights matters. She also has experience with cases involving personal injury, and has helped many clients to obtain compensation in a number of cases.
